DECEIT
If there is anything Satan likes
to do more than deceive man, the Bible doesn't say what it is. 1Pet 5:8 says, "the
devil walks about seeking whom he may devour." Being deceived is the
same as being devoured or destroyed.
If my life giving source is
taken away or contaminated through deceit, I'm being destroyed or devoured.
Satan does not want to get rid of God's word, he just wants to change it for
his purposes as he tried to do with Jesus in His forty days' temptation.
Modernized "Bibles" do this very thing; through flavorful grammar
Satan has distorted the meaning of God's word and stripped it of His power. The
Authorized Version uses the word 'tabernacle'; the modern versions use 'tent'.
Now, we know that the tabernacle was a tent, but the tabernacle was the
acknowledged dwelling place of God. To demean such a powerful word as this is
deceit. In Luke
The Authorized Version (King
James) of God's word has passed the test of time in its power and uniqueness,
and will continue to be the prime foundation for the faith of Christ for today
and the future until Jesus comes.
MONDAY:
But the end of all things is at hand: be ye
therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. And above all things have fervent
charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the
multitude of sins. Use hospitality one to another without grudging. As every
man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as
good stewards of the manifold grace of God. If any man speak, let him speak
as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the
ability which God giveth: that God in all things may
be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and
ever. Amen. (1 Peter 4:7-11 AV)
Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the
wilderness to be tempted of the devil. And when he had fasted forty days and
forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be
the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. But he answered and
said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the
mouth of God. (Matthew 4:1-4 AV)
TUESDAY:
O generation of vipers, how can ye, being
evil, speak good things? for
out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth
forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth
forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle
word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of
judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified,
and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. (Matthew
12:34-37 AV)
Hear ye therefore the parable of the sower. When any one heareth the
word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not,
then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away
that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way
side. But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth
it; Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a
while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth
because of the word, by and by he is offended. He also that received seed among
the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care
of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful. But he that received seed into the
good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth
fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some
sixty, some thirty. (Matthew 13:18-23 AV)
WEDNESDAY:
And, behold, two of them went that same day to
a village called Emmaus, which was from
And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus,
and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day. But Jesus answered
them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken
the sabbath, but said also
that God was his Father, making himself equal with God. Then answered Jesus and
said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of
himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what
things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son
likewise. For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things
that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater
works than these, that ye may marvel. For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth
them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all
judgment unto the Son: That all men should honour
the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth
not the Father which hath sent him. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath
everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from
death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The
hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of
God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so
hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And
hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of
man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in
the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done
good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the
resurrection of damnation. I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I
judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will
of the Father which hath sent me. If I bear witness of myself, my witness is
not true. There is another that beareth witness of
me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true. Ye sent unto John, and he bare
witness unto the truth. But I receive not testimony from man: but these things
I say, that ye might be saved. He was a burning and a shining light: and ye
were willing for a season to rejoice in his light. But I have greater witness
than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to
finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me,
that the Father hath sent me. And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath
borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his
shape. And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. Search the scriptures; for in them
ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me. And ye
will not come to me, that ye might have life. I receive not honour
from men. But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you. I am come in
my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name,
him ye will receive. How can ye believe, which receive honour
one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh
from God only? Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one
that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye
trust. For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of
me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words? (John
5:16-47 AV)
THURSDAY:
And the brethren immediately sent away Paul
and Silas by night unto
For whatsoever things were written aforetime
were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the
scriptures might have hope. (Romans 15:4 AV)
FRIDAY:
Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of
Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret
since the world began, But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the
prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to
all nations for the obedience of faith: (Romans 16:25-26 AV)
Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the
gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye
stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto
you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all
that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the
scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day
according to the scriptures: And that he was seen of Cephas,
then of the twelve: After that, he was seen of above five hundred brethren at
once; of whom the greater part remain unto this present, but some are fallen
asleep. After that, he was seen of James; then of all the apostles. And last of
all he was seen of me also, as of one born out of due time. (1 Corinthians
15:1-8 AV)
SATURDAY:
But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner
of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions,
afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium,
at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them
all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live
godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall
wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the
things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast
learned them; And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures,
which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in
Christ Jesus. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly
furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:10-17 AV)
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man
shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are
written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book
of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
(Revelation 22:18-19 AV)
