HELPS FOR SINNERS
WHAT IS SIN?
Whosoever
committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the
law. (1 John 3:4 AV)
From Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary:
SINNER:
n. One who sins; esp. one who sins without repenting; hence, an incorrigible
transgressor.
WHAT ARE SINNERS LIKE? ARE YOU A
SINNER?
Abram
dwelled in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelled in the cities of the plain, and
pitched his tent toward Sodom. But the men of Sodom were wicked
and SINNERS before the LORD exceedingly. (Genesis 13:12-13 AV)
Then
cometh he to his disciples, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your
rest: behold, the hour is at hand, and the Son of man is betrayed into the
hands of SINNERS. (Matthew 26:45 AV)
And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the
Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, To execute judgment upon all, and
to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which
they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which
ungodly SINNERS have spoken against him. These are murmurers,
complainers, walking after their own lusts; and their mouth speaketh great
swelling words, having men's persons in admiration because of advantage.
But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of
our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the
last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who
separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit. But ye, beloved, building
up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost, Keep
yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ
unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others
save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted
by the flesh. Now unto him that is able to keep you from falling, and to
present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding
joy, To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion
and power, both now and ever. Amen. (Jude 1:14-25 AV)
HOW ARE SINNERS SEPARATED FROM THE
RIGHTEOUS?
Therefore
the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor SINNERS in the
congregation of the righteous. (Psalms 1:5 AV)
“We
know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God
keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.” (1 John 5:18 AV)
LORD,
I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour
dwelleth. Gather not my soul with SINNERS, nor my life with bloody men:
(Psalms 26:8-9 AV)
(2)
Let
the SINNERS be consumed out of the earth, and let the wicked be no more.
Bless thou the LORD, O my soul. Praise ye the LORD. (Psalms 104:35 AV)
For
such an high priest became us, who is holy, harmless, undefiled,
separate from SINNERS, and made higher than the heavens; (Hebrews 7:26
AV)
Now
we know that God heareth not SINNERS: but if any man be a worshipper of
God, and doeth his will, him he heareth. (John 9:31 AV)
For
as by one man's disobedience many were made SINNERS, so by the obedience
of one shall many be made righteous. (Romans 5:19 AV)
For
the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it
first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not
the gospel of God? (1 Peter 4:17 AV)
HOW WILL SINNERS SUFFER?
And
the destruction of the transgressors and of the SINNERS shall be
together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed. (Isaiah 1:28 AV)
Behold,
the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the
land desolate: and he shall destroy the SINNERS thereof out of it.
(Isaiah 13:9 AV)
All
the SINNERS of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil
shall not overtake nor prevent us. (Amos 9:10 AV)
Or
those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye
that they were SINNERS above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem? I tell
you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish. (Luke 13:4-5 AV)
THE GRIEF OF SINNERS:
FROM THE BAPTIST FAITH AND MESSAGE:
“GOD’S PURPOSE OF GRACE.”
2nd paragraph: “All true believers endure to the end. Those whom God has
accepted in Christ, and sanctified by His Spirit, will never fall away from the
state of grace, but shall persevere to the end.
Believers
may fall into sin through neglect and temptation, whereby they grieve the
Spirit, impair their graces and comforts, bring reproach on the name of Christ,
and temporal judgments on themselves, yet they shall be kept by the power of
God through faith unto salvation.”
STAND AGAINST SIN
Blessed
is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth
in the way of SINNERS, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his
delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day
and night. (Psalms 1:1-2 AV)
(3)
Let not thine heart envy SINNERS:
but be thou in the fear of the LORD all the day long. (Proverbs 23:17
AV)
But
if, while we seek to be justified by Christ, we ourselves also are found SINNERS,
is therefore Christ the minister of sin? God forbid. (Galatians 2:17 AV)
THE REMEDY FOR SINNERS
But
God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet SINNERS,
Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall
be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were
reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we
shall be saved by his life. (Romans 5:8-10 AV)
Draw
nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye
SINNERS; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. Be
afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your
joy to heaviness. Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift
you up. (James 4:8-10 AV)
That
if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine
heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the
heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation. (Romans 10:9-10 AV)
For
the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of
sin and death. (Romans 8:2 AV)
Let
him know, that he which converteth the SINNER from the error of his way
shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins. (James 5:20
AV)
WARNING TO SINNERS:
If
you are convinced that you are a SINNER, whereas some falsely say that
all are SINNERS, remember that you MUST be born again, (John 3:3) to
even see the Kingdom of God. To be born again, you must give your whole life
over to God who will make you a new creature in Christ as you repent of your
old life as a SINNER. The old man will then be dead, crucified with
Christ who will now be the way of your new life of righteousness. As you need
power to live your new born again life, He will anoint you with His Holy Ghost
with various spiritual gifts available as needed for the work He will send you
to do. “But ye shall receive
power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses
unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the
uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 AV)
If
you are already born again, do not defame the Lord’s purifying work in your
life by believing or confessing that you are still a SINNER, but confess
His name as the one who has saved you from the power of sin and the Hell that
awaits all SINNERS. Ask the Lord for the “other comforter”, the Holy
Ghost, the Spirit of Truth, who will lead you into all truth.
